SUNY Purchase Dorm 1

50,000 sq. foot, four-story dormitory with 210 beds, 8 student lounges, seminar room, computer room, laundry, elevators, recycling system, and air-conditioning. The predominant room type is a two person room with private bath, but includes four-person suites, one-person rooms, handicapped accesible rooms, and faculty appartments. The design concept is a "gateway" in brick matching adjacent dormitories, with a central portion of the building as a pattern of organic materials and textures. A central two-story lounge with a curved facade cantilevers over the main entrance. Architectural commission awarded by competitive public bid.
